And the 2007 Merriam-Webster Word of the Year is…
Also in the running in 2007 – “facebook” (as a verb), and “blamestorm” (think brainstorm gone bad).
I wondered… if “facebooking” got props, why not “google,” as in, “just google it.” Turns out… “to google” is already in the dictionary.
Walking down memory lane, “truthiness” (thanks, Stephen Colbert) was 2005′s Word of the Year, and some years prior to that, we can all thank Beyonce for “bootilicious.”
What’s next?!
My favorite? “plutoed (demoted or devalued, as happened to the former planet Pluto)” (credit given here 2005)
