lily: what do you know about mobile me
dimwell: quite a bit. what do you want to know?
lily: if i should do the 60 day free trial or not, or if i don’t need it
dimwell: did you watch the mobileme video?, there’s a guided tour
lily: i haven’t yet, but i’ve read a little
dimwell: mobile me has a lot of facets to it,
but the big one has been syncing all your basic data, address book, iCal calendars, email info, etc, there’s some basic webhosting functionality, the slideshows that i sent you of my post-funeral photos are on mobileme, lots of stuff. but it basically was rebuilt recently to work with your home PC, work PC, and iPhone, all at the same time. just watch the video. heh.
lily: that could be a good thing since i have a PC at work and a mac at home
* watches guided tour *
lily: wow, this is a really smart feature
dimwell: ah. yeah. very slick.
lily: god these people are brilliant, it’s like they have a focus group that sits around every day and says, “hmmm, what do you wish you could do?”
dimwell: there are people who are good at recognizing what their computers *can’t* do, idea people. combine them with brilliant engineers and marketing people, polish it with some industrial design, and let steve jobs present it. it’s a well-oiled machine.
